The RTX 5050 is the latest and most affordable GPU added to Nvidia’s RTX 50-series. It’s aimed at budget gamers and completes the current family of 50-series cards, at least for now. Unless Nvidia decides to release Ti or Super versions later, the 5050 is likely the final card.
If you visit major online stores like Amazon, Newegg, or Best Buy, you’ll notice that the RTX 5050 isn’t available yet. While it is listed on some sites, it’s marked as ‘out of stock.’ This either happens when the demand for the card is extremely high on launch day and it gets sold out within seconds, or when the stock just hasn’t arrived yet. In the case of the RTX 5050, it’s the latter.
Early rumors claimed that mainland China would get the GPU early, and an Amazon pre-order page suggested a July 1st launch date in the U.S. as well. However, the date was later changed, so it was likely a mistake. Now, we’ll need Nvidia to confirm the release date, which they said is sometime in the “second half of July” for most of the world. The GPU is indeed available in mainland China, as reviewers have started benchmarking it.

Despite the card not being in stock, Nvidia has already added driver support for the RTX 5050 through its latest Game Ready update as a result of its availability in China. This means if you do get the card, either as a standalone desktop GPU or as part of a laptop, it will be fully supported and ready to run smoothly out of the box. This will also make it compatible with games, software, and allow it to utilize the latest RTX and DLSS technology.
The driver also fixes several bugs. One fix solves an issue where enabling Nvidia Smooth Motion caused GPU memory to run slower than expected. Another fix addresses a freeze in Cyberpunk 2077 on certain laptops when using the Nvidia App Overlay with DLSS Frame Generation. There are also fixes for black screen issues, including one during driver installation on some AMD Ryzen systems and another related to switching refresh rates on certain Sony monitors.
In any case, we don’t know exactly when the RTX 5050 will become available in the US, but we have a good idea of where you’ll find one. Make sure to check out our Where to Buy RTX 5050 page, where we’ve listed all major retailers who will be offering this GPU later this month.
