New rumors are surfacing concerning the future RTX 5090 DD, NVIDIA’s new high-end export card. If leakers are to be believed, the greens could keep the original 21,760 cuda core of the RTX 5090 (D). However, this would mean a reduction in memory capacity and bus width.
RTX 5090 DD, in reality just an amputated memory part?
Initially, rumors about this card pointed to a seriously reduced number of cuda cores. Mentioned here, the card could then see its GPU limited to 14080 cuda cores, a reduction that places the card close to an RTX 5080… If the latest rumours are to be believed, the Chameleon has chosen to reduce only the memory part of the card. As a result, the new version will benefit from 24 GB of VRAM, coupled with a 384-bit bus. Another element to take into account is the type of memory used: obviously GDDR7 at 28 Gbps. Memory bandwidth is therefore down, from 1.79 TB/s to 1.34 TB/s… But it’s still up against the RTX 4090 and its 1.01 To/s. Of course, this configuration would be released with a new variant of the GB202, the GB202-240, and the TDP would remain unchanged at 575W . It remains to be seen whether NVIDIA will touch operating frequencies. On the other hand, AI performance is likely to be seriously hampered, as with the original D model. As for the launch, it would appear that the company is planning an August release. A late launch, given the state of stocks of the original RTX 5090 D, which have now fallen to 0. At the same time, with production at a standstill since early May, this is hardly surprising, especially as demand remains strong.
